Most known cities from United Arab Emirates (UAE) are Dubai and Abu Dhabi. However these are only two out of the seven emirates. So far I have only been visiting Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The cuisine is a blend of It’s Bedouin, Persian, Indian, and …
Dubai is the largest city from United Arab Emirates. It has many nationalities, due to the expats living there, but is also visited by more than 18 million tourists as per 2024. Dubai simply wants to put itself as the culinary capital which evolve around …
If you happen to be in South-Korea, you might want to consider visiting Jeju island. It is green, full of nature and quite relaxing. In terms of food, we found just a few halal restaurants with the Yemen restaurant being our favourite place to visit. We also visited Innisfree cafe where we had our lunch.
~ Jenny’s cafe
Jenny’s Cafe is located in Seogwipo-si on the southern coast of Jeju Island. We went to this place cause we stayed around this area. Be mindful that the place does not stand out and you will need a car to get here. It is a small-scale restaurant run by one person. I ordered the dinner special, which comes with a starter, main course, tiramisu dessert and a drink of choice. For main you could choose pizza or pasta and vegetarian options are available. I have enjoyed my meal.
We came across this restaurant and did not expect that we would visit this place twice. It is a Yemeni restaurant and they serve vegetarian/vegan and halal options. The place is small-scaled and an approximate of 15 seats are available inside. The halal options are chicken and lamb shawarma, chicken and lamb aqdah, which is slow cooked Yemeni stew with vegetables and aromatic spices. Vegetarians can choose falafel and hummus, but to me the star of the dishes is Fasolia, which is white bean stew that you eat with some fresh-made flat bread. Not only the bread, but pretty much everything tasted fresh, flavorful and all handmade. There are few more options on the menu and I leave it up to you to discover.

You might have seen the brand Innisfree across some Korean skin products. It is a known local brand that uses natural ingredients, such as volcanic cluster or green tea, which are originated from the Jeju island. Innisfree has also a cafe which is made like a glasshouse overlooking the green tea plantation. It is really a relaxing and a good place to have a seat for some nice dessert and drinks. We ordered the vegetarian Haenyeo brunch basket, it was expensive and not too impressive taste-wise, but I had to try. Also another must try is the tangerine iced tea or ice cream. Again, due to its volcanic soil you can find tangerine fruits growing and incorporated in all kind of desserts in Jeju. After all the good stuff, you can visit the Innisfree shop that has a full range of cosmetics.
The one place that I really enjoyed from Vietnam is definitely Hoi An. This place should take no more than 1h drive away from Da Nang. Most people take a day trip to Hoi An, but I would suggest to stay at least two days …
Da Nang was my first destination in Vietnam and the first meal I had was at a vegan restaurant. I noticed there were quite some number of vegetarian/ vegan places to visit in Da Nang. Also Da Nang is located near the shore, you could …
One thing I think about when I hear Busan, is the “train to Busan”. We did take the train to Busan and luckily we did not spot any zombies. It was a nice city, which is also the second largest city in South-Korea. It did not feel packed to me and I like how this city is located near the shore. So one of the dishes you should try is definitely fish/ seafood.
~Busan Fish Market / Jagalchi Fish Market This is the largest fish market in South-Korea, nearby the BIFF square. Unfortunately due to limited days we had in Busan I only managed to go to this place at late night. There was one restaurant which was still open. I felt so lucky that I was able to take a seat while the friendly ladies were about to close the shop. Seafood pancake is a must try and the dishes come with some other side dishes. For example I got kimchi, pickled cucumber, seaweed and clear soup. I have been told by a friend who visited Busan earlier that you should try fish at this neighborhood, based on my limited experience, I do agree.

~Hi Asia We ended up visiting the Haeundae area. This area is known for it’s beach, but also other touristy attractions which we were not able to see unfortunately. While walking from the Haeundae metro station towards the beach we encountered an Indian-Pakistani/Indonesian restaurant. Although the place does not look fancy, you could still have fun by watching people walking by when you take the table near the window. The food was just good, but do mention if you want the food to be less spicy.
